The Ultimate Sacrifice

The following individuals served at the Emigrant Hospital in 1847, providing aid and comfort to Famine migrants suffering from ship fever (typhus), until they each tragically contracted and died of the contagious disease themselves.  Their names are engraved upon the benches within Grasett Park in honour of their bravery, compassion and sacrifice.
